In August 1992, I returned to Atlanta for its HotLanta circuit party weekend and, for the second year in a row, I attended this gathering of sexy men from all over the world at the private home of Dan Hadden and David Pollard. Once again, the crowd was all white given the unconscious segregation that separated us between white and black clubs. Atlanta culture that implicitly segregated gays. In 1991, the police came to their door because neighbors complained about the crowd and noise. So, in 1992, crowd control limited the number of guests (though the beef quotient seemed even higher). I ended up meeting Dan in DC in 2016 or 2017 and amazingly, he claims to have remembered me from the party (I was flattered). David had tragically been one of many in his life who didn’t survive the epidemic.
