Almost 50 years after I met him, Bill Masi’s sister found me through the AIDS Memorial Page on Instagram. Bill Masi is the only male model I ever dated. I was intimidated by his looks and grateful for his attention. Bill was my guest during that 1981 summer mid-week in Fire Island Pines. We had much of the Pines to ourselves (remote/digital work was decades from happening). After horsing around in the pool, I thought my reflection in the sliding glass door might be a fun selfie and Bill surprised me by joining in the photo. Bill died from AIDS in 1995. I posted a testimonial to him on @theAIDSMemorial page in 2025 and his sister, Joanne Becker, saw it and contacted me. We shared memories, sadness, and photos with each other.
