Unlike most of my photos, I don’t have much recollection of this one as it had been sitting in my box of negatives unseen for maybe 30 years. When I first saw this image back in the 90s, it hadn’t struck me as particularly noteworthy. But, in the interim period, Rob Deraney (left), at one point possibly my best friend, died in the World Trade Center bombings on 9/11/2001, making this memory that much more important. My guess is that it was taken on Fire Island at the party following the beach volleyball tournament there around 1993.
