I was in Rio and Angra dos Reis for year-end 1992 and New Year’s with a group of gay guys from LA and NYC, led by Ron Oyer, a friend who regularly led groups to Rio, Mykonos, and Palm Springs. Rick Wilson, the fellow on the left plunging the mock dagger into the scalp on the right, was a fitness instructor from LA and a wonderful spirit. After meeting on this trip, we would run into each other at the Palm Springs White Party 1993, the National LGBT March on Washington in April 1993, and Stonewall 25 in NYC in August. I was therefore shocked when I got the news that he had suddenly passed away with AIDS. The fellow in the impressive yellow Speedo was from São Paulo and we hung out a few times, but I can’t recall his name.
