In 1993, I met Gustavo Otto, a transplanted gay Chilean citizen in NYC. He and I (plus occasionally his boyfriend, Bryan) hung out a lot, and he became sort of a de facto photographic muse for me. This photo and the next one are shots I took of him in the suburban garden of the house in Southampton, New York, in which I rented a room for 11 consecutive years. Gustavo and Bryan were my weekend guests when this pic was taken. We had just returned from an exhilarating day at gay Fowler Beach, playing volleyball and towel-hopping among friends.
