Two muscular young white men posing on a large rock outdoors at a beach with a forest in the background on a sunny day. Both wear black swim briefs. On the left, a man with brown hair and a mustache stands with his hands on his hips and his left leg resting on the rock, looking down. On the right, a clean-shaven man stands with his right leg on the rock and his left arm bent with a fist, looking out to the right.

During our visit to Wreck Beach the day after Gay Games III had concluded in Vancouver in August 1990, two divers from the Philadelphia team whom I had met previously chose to flex for some of their fans on the rocks overlooking the beach and beachgoers. They were exhibiting poses that bodybuilders (especially gay ones) have been demonstrating for decades, if not longer.
